I Found Shoes…

April 28, 2008

Well, I found many things, but notably – my shoes have been chosen! I went with the ever-dependable Zappos, and as I expected, I was able to pick my pair straight from their site! I actually ordered six – with the intention of returning five…

Once I started trying them on, it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made – they were the only thing that didn’t feel like torture devices on my oversize feet (such a pain to be a 10.5-11!) But, this is the shoe that I am going with, and they are made by “rsvp” in the style “Cherie” (I linked all of the pictures up, in case you wanted to check any of them out yourself):

They are fabric, instead of that shiny, slippery nylon stuff – and, they are slightly ivory, which is what I need. Can you believe that bow on the back? Don’t you love it?

Just for the sake of interest – these are the other shoes that I ordered to try on as well:

1) Ralph Lauren Sandals – They made my feet look like long sausages (they could look great on somebody else, however – which, will go without saying about each of the following shoes on this list, okay?  I wouldn’t have to repeat myself…)  :)

2) A pair by “Touch Ups” – I REALLY wanted these to work, but they hurt, and they “flopped” noisily :

3) A pair by Nine West, which they are out of now – so, no link available (sorry!) – These would have been second choice… they are just asking for torture, however:

4) Another pair by “Touch Ups” – I also really like these a lot, but the inside of that strap kept rubbing against my foot, which was just pinpointing exactly where the blister would undoubtedly appear on my wedding day:

5) And, yet another pair by “Touch Ups” – again with the “flip-flop” sound:

So, I think that I made a good choice!    But, now on to the next challenge – what do I take to the reception as my “backup” shoes?  I’m pretty sure that flip-flops aren’t acceptable… and, honestly – I don’t care… but, the length of my dress would due to the exact fitting, etc.  Oh well…

My little design palettes…

March 5, 2008

As my own wedding comes closer by the second, I have been doing some of my own design and research for my wedding…

I thought that I would share these – they are the individual design palettes that I created for each one of my bridesmaids, plus one that shows all of the the bridesmaids together. This was what I did as my way of showing them their dresses for the first time – and, I mailed a copy of their dress palette, plus the palette for all bridesmaids (plus a few instructions) as one package that was held together with black satin ribbon.

I had fun doing it, and I think that they were psyched to receive a package in the mail! :)

This is the palette showing all the bridesmaids looks…
This was the palette for my bridesmaid Rebecca…
This was for bridesmaid Sarah, and 1 of 2 Maids of Honor – Shauna…
This was for 2 of 2 Maids of Honor Jessica…
All of the dresses were picked from J.Crew’s wedding section (which, I think is only on their website.)
They have their choice on shoes, as long as they are solid black patent… the flats on their palettes are from Target (very inexpensive and cute option!) The second pair is from Nordstrom, and is quite a bit pricier – but damn, are these shoes hot!
HOT!
The tights pictured are a nude shade of regular fishnets, which you can find anywhere from Target, to Nordstrom, to Victoria’s Secret, etc.
I would really like to have white flowers in their hair, like shown in the vintage photo…
I just love these full flowers… they will be carrying mostly white flowers, but not as bouquets, because I think that it sounds annoying to carry around for them – so, they will have those bouquets hanging from ribbon – just like a purse!
This was just an example that I found online.
