Sweet Wedding Hangover… I Live To Tell

May 31, 2008

I still cannot believe that my wedding is over… it doesn’t seem possible.  Absolutely crazy…

I’ll be sure to do a series about “It happened to me” disasters that you can avoid in your wedding (but, I did not.)

First, however – I thought that I would include some photos for you all to enjoy… so, enjoy!

My beautiful bridesmaids for the big day...

My beautiful bridesmaids made me feel so special the entire weekend… they are all so dear to me.

Horrible attempt for "Abbey Road" photos...

Bad attempts at “Abbey Road” photos – however, I have not yet seen the professional photos yet!  These are purely snapshots!  You can see the famous Brown Palace Hotel  in the background – across the street from the church.

Josiah - my groom.

My groom.  (I am in the background with my brother… the groom is the one holding the bouquet… of course!)

Phenomenal wedding cake...

Our fantastic cake!  The cake guy did exactly what I wanted, and it looked exactly how I pictured it… plus, it actually tasted great as well!

The "David's Bridal" photo... am I right???

This one is so funny to me, simply because it is so great!  We look like an ad for David’s Bridal or something!  Right?

Wtih my dad and brother...

Waiting with the original men in my life – my Dad, and little brother.

Freaking out.. story to come!

Oh man – I was freaking out here… the story is forthcoming on the “dress freakout!”

Trying not to lose it down the aisle...

I was a MESS!  I soooo could NOT keep myself from crying!  At least my Dad looks good.  I cringe at the idea that I was crying while everyone was expecting me to “shine!”

That’s all you get for now!  I can’t wait until the professional photos are ready to see!

Like I said – you will hear the stories… however, you must wait for the time when the post fits…

The Bird Thing…

May 12, 2008

As I mentioned in my last post – I will be using (not real) birds in my wedding… because I have this “thing” with birds these days…

Here is one of the birds that my florist found to include in our table arrangements (which are SUPER natural looking – use of moss, branches, etc.)

I love it! And, to make things even better, the cake guy said that he would also include some little blue birdies in the cake deco -no idea how that will look yet – but, I’m assuming it will work!

If you are doing your own projects for your wedding, you can pick up birds similar to these at a craft store. I found the one below at Michael’s – along with some smaller, and more colorful versions that I use in my jewelry boxes, and hair pieces for my store (which you can see a little further down in the post!)

This particular project was actually made with a wedding in mind – it’s hard to tell right away what it is – you are looking at a very decorative hair comb that you could just slip in your hair anywhere…

It is pretty big – but, it also has a lot of stuff in there… flowers, the bird, tulle, lace… a lot. The bird and the flower sit together in the middle of it all, and then below them, there is a strip of purple lace that actually ties around the bottom, as if it was a bouquet. It’s definitely very bold – not for everyone… but, I just love it! This one is actually for sale in my store currently – but, like I always say… I could easily do something custom to a customer’s tastes. You’ve just got to let me know!

The next piece is not yet listed – I just finished it, but I think it is so cute. And, you could so easily give something like this to your bridesmaids, or something like that!

It’s a little round jewelry box! I had a lot of fun making this one!

So, you can see that I’m a little into working with birds right now… but, hopefully it all gave you some ideas? You could have a florist, or another vendor do something for your wedding, like I am… or, you could DIY also! If both seem a pain, then just contact me and tell me what you want – I love working with people to make the perfect item for them! I could even do multiple pieces for bridesmaids!

Just contact me!

My little design palettes…

March 5, 2008

As my own wedding comes closer by the second, I have been doing some of my own design and research for my wedding…

I thought that I would share these – they are the individual design palettes that I created for each one of my bridesmaids, plus one that shows all of the the bridesmaids together. This was what I did as my way of showing them their dresses for the first time – and, I mailed a copy of their dress palette, plus the palette for all bridesmaids (plus a few instructions) as one package that was held together with black satin ribbon.

I had fun doing it, and I think that they were psyched to receive a package in the mail! :)

This is the palette showing all the bridesmaids looks…
This was the palette for my bridesmaid Rebecca…
This was for bridesmaid Sarah, and 1 of 2 Maids of Honor – Shauna…
This was for 2 of 2 Maids of Honor Jessica…
All of the dresses were picked from J.Crew’s wedding section (which, I think is only on their website.)
They have their choice on shoes, as long as they are solid black patent… the flats on their palettes are from Target (very inexpensive and cute option!) The second pair is from Nordstrom, and is quite a bit pricier – but damn, are these shoes hot!
HOT!
The tights pictured are a nude shade of regular fishnets, which you can find anywhere from Target, to Nordstrom, to Victoria’s Secret, etc.
I would really like to have white flowers in their hair, like shown in the vintage photo…
I just love these full flowers… they will be carrying mostly white flowers, but not as bouquets, because I think that it sounds annoying to carry around for them – so, they will have those bouquets hanging from ribbon – just like a purse!
This was just an example that I found online.
